The second Summer Semester of 2022 Youth Empowerment Peace Class was held for three months from June to September with over a thousand youth leaders from 34 countries. On August 27, HWPL Peace Educator Training Completion Joint Ceremony was held online with Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Two educators from Uganda, 32 educators from Kenya, and one educator from Tanzania attended this HWPL Peace Educator Training Completion Ceremony.   On September 22, the first Zambian Religious Peace Camp, hosted by HWPL, was held at the Taqwa Islamic Center Trust located in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia under the theme of “Religione: Breaking Boundaries.” Religious leaders and youth organization members gathered in one place to resolve conflicts through religious and cultural exchanges.   A documentary film about the international peacebuilding efforts for Mindanao in the Philippines, one the world’s long-term conflicts sparked by violence that left over 120,000 deaths and millions of displaced persons since the 1960s was released and screened in the Philippines. In celebration of the National Peace Consciousness Month, a peace documentary titled “Great Legacy” premiered in a cinema in Davao City on the evening of September 6, 2022. Around 500 representatives from the government, education sector, media, as well as civic society leaders, religious leaders across the country and peace advocates from Mindanao have attended. The 8th Anniversary of the September 18th HWPL World Peace Summit will be held on 18 September 2022. The event commemorates the promises made for peace on 18 September 2014 by leaders in politics, religions, women's groups, youth groups, and journalism committed to working for world peace. Since then, annual commemorations are held every 18 September, where all parties share peace initiative plans, progress, and results.  Adding to violent conflicts, which have been a constant threat to safety for humanity, the pandemic has exacerbated the uncertainty for humanity's future. The global community has yet to fully recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and still faces various threats such as the Russian-Ukraine conflict, increasing economic instability from supply chain disruptions and inflation, and unsuccessful attempts to address climate change. On 27 April 2022, a virtual workshop to enable intergenerational dialogue to break the long-standing cycle of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) was held in Botswana. The workshop is a joint initiative between an international peace NGO called Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), International Peace Youth Group(IPYG), and Volunteer Hub(VH), a social enterprise that contributes to alleviate socio-economic and environmental challenges in Botswana. The war between Ukraine and Russia killed over 3,000 people and is lasting nearly 4 months since the day the war broke out. There are no signs of ending the shootings in parts of the world. While coping with the new normal, the international community faces new concerns over the risk of armed conflict increasing in various places including their own country.
